Garden Arch Bridges Span The Ages

California Redwood Span Bridge Information by Rod Bird:
Wooden
bridges have been used for many centuries for things such as draw bridges, for spanning crevices, over creeks, ponds, gulleys and in fact anywhere to cross over low areas such as valleys, dips and depressions as well as water of course.Japan
started making
wooden arch
bridges many decades ago to beautify and maintain Koi ponds and water gardens ... I'm sure you have all seen those appealing pictures of Japanese gardens all of which incorporate a wooden span bridge.Other parts of the world caught on during the last 20 years or so.The wooden arch bridge is usually made of cedar, pine, douglas fir and a few places use the more durable and weather, insect and
water resistant California Redwood.
We use only 100% California Redwood Or Western Red Cedar to build our Garden Bridges
to assure many years of use and beauty. When looking for a Pond or Garden bridge, you should know exactly how long the bridge will span. Some bridge builders sell an 8 ft bridge but it will actually only span about 6 1/2 ft.You should also make sure the bridge is made of weather
and water resistant
wood or sealed and stained, along with stainless steel
hardware such as bolts, washer, nuts and screws.

We use only stainless steel or galvanized
hardware in all our bridges and on all our bridges we measure the span length that it will span and not the arch length. You should try to find a bridge that is very easily assembled and only a few tools required. We number and label each board, each post and rail and you just match the numbers and put in the screws and tighten. It takes an average of 20 minutes to assemble our bridges.Down through the ages the wooden arch bridge has brought joy, beauty and comfort to pond owners, homeowners, farmers, lanscapers and many others who have an area that needs to be easily accessed. I would be happy to build you a bridge of modern design or one styled from the early designers. Please contact us at www.Birdweb1.com..

Is It Really Necessary To Buy Bottled Water?

Copyright 2006 Debt Management Credit Counseling Corp.

For years people have been drinking the water that flows out of the tap. And how often did people get sick from drinking tap water that city municipalities regulate? Not too often. Yet Americans spent some $10 billion on bottled water last year. Is it really worth paying a dollar for a bottle of water out of the soda machine rather than filling up a cup at the water fountain?

According to an article by Gregory Karp of the Allentown Morning Call featured on Sun-Sentinel.com, the dirty secret about clean water is that regulation of bottled water is weaker than regulation of tap water. These include leading brands as Coke's Dasani and Pepsi's Aquafina.

Tap water can actually be more beneficial because most cities require the water to contain fluoride to prevent tooth decay in its citizens. Bottled water often does not contain fluoride according to a report from the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Is It Really Necessary To Buy Bottled Water?

A Roofing Enigma

For all of those who suffer from the giant ice growth at the eaves in the winter.Ice and Water ShieldThe onset of the ice & water shield usage in the northeast after the great ice storms of the early 90's has brought with it a mentality that has made for the profession a strange enigma. The experience that is forever embedded on the minds of those that dwelled under the massive influx of water resulting from ice dams has caused the mandate of ice and water shield usage in the installation of new roofing systems. This is much like a doctor that treats the symptom, rather than offering a cure. Ventilation is almost always the way to cure such problems. The costliness of doing the job right often involves a redesign of the situation.

Many times, with a little education, more can be done with the proper approach that can afford a lasting roofing system, and a healthier environment for those living inside the dwelling. Visit us at: http://www.fourseasonsroofingandsiding.com The enigma...

Become a Shark ? Pool Tips for a Fish out of Water!

So it's Friday night, and you're out on the town with your mates.
You're well dressed and you've had a few drinks.
Isn't life grand?
You puff away on your cigarette, sipping a pint, and round the pool table considering your next shot.
You are keenly aware of the gorgeous woman sitting at the bar, watching your every move.
Follow these pool rules, and show her that you are as slick as your slicked-back hair!

Now you may be wondering who gets to break?
The traditional way of determining who gets to break is a method called "lagging".

Both players line up their ball at the head string (the line on the table).
Shoot your ball to the far rail, and bank it straight back towards yourself without touching the rail you are standing closest to.
Have your opponent do the same.
Whoever has the ball closest to the rail, without touching it, gets to break.
Hitting a side rail is an immediate...

Patio Ponds

Garden ponds and fountains were once mainly for the very rich. Today, anyone can have a garden pond. A fountain or waterfall can be included almost anyplace--even if your "yard" is limited to a patio or balcony.Adding water to your patio can be as simple as setting out a shallow dish of water for use as a birdbath. Any shallow container at least 6 inches wide and a half-inch deep will work. Pie pans, garbage can lids, or flowerpot bases work well in small spaces.

Fill the container with clean water and wash it every day or two. The wildlife attracted to the water will depend on where you place the container. Containers set on the ground usually attract the greatest number of wildlife species, from birds and butterflies to squirrels and toads. Hanging birdbaths or ones on pedestals will be restricted to those creatures that can fly or jump high enough to reach the water, and give birds a chance to escape from neighborhood cats and other predators. If you want to grow water plants--and...

Hendersonville, TN (ContentDesk) May 19, 2006 -- According to the American Water Works Association, "Recent water usage data published by the United States Geological Survey shows that, of the 40 billion gallons of water withdrawn each day (bgd) in the United States by water utilities, only 34 bgd of this amount is documented as end-user consumption. The missing 6 bgd is categorized simply as "public use/loss" reflecting USGS's recognition that unmonitored public use (firefighting, street cleaning, etc.), accounting shortcomings and leakage inhibit the ability to attain a true balance of withdrawal and use totals. The quantity of water labeled as "public use/loss" - which is more than enough to meet the water needs of the ten largest US cities combined - reflects the huge margin of error that currently exists in quantifying actual water use amounts vs. water loss amounts in drinking water utilities. By consistently
employing a reliable and standardized water audit methodology,...
